Thanks for this post, Wolfgang, there's a huge amount that resonates in the way you describe your experience and the place that you've arrived at.

One detail, in case it's something you want to enquire into further – as well as the Jubilee traditions of debt reset, there are also cases of monetary systems that work quite differently to the one we currently take for granted and don't produce the same tendencies. Bernard Lietaer's The Future of Money is worth reading on this.

Thank you Dougald for pointing out his book. I haven't read it, but the title sounds promising. I my opinion, the problem is not necessarily economical but political. There is a threshold after which concentration of wealth leads to a runaway effect because the rich gain enough power to tweak the system in their favour, leading to a positive feedback. In my opinion, that can happen in with any monetary system. But then, you have to make sure society stays away from that threshold.
